CAR:
Supporters
travelling to evening games in Wolverhampton should remember
that the M6 between junctions 6 and 10 is one of the busiest
stretches of motorway in Europe. For evening games, may
be best to approach Wolverhampton from junction 2 of the
M5?
From
North and East:
Exit M6 at junction 13 (s/p Wolverhampton A449). From here
the route is simple - keep following signs to `Wolverhampton
A449'. After 9.0 miles, go straight on under the M54. Go
straight on for 2.7 miles, over three roundabouts, picking
up signs to the Molineux Centre, to a 4th roundabout by
the British Gas works. Go straight on (s/p Wolverhampton
A449), under two railway bridges to 5th roundabout, dominated
by a red-bricked building (the `Five Ways' roundabout).
Here take 3rd exit (s/p Molineux Centre, University North)
into Waterloo Road. Ground is on LHS after 0.4 miles.
From
East (Weekends Only): Exit M6 at junction 10. At motorway
roundabout, follow signs to Wolverhampton A454, Dudley onto
the A454 dual carriageway. Exit after 1.3 miles at the Keyway
junction (s/p Wolverhampton A454, Willenhall). At next two
roundabouts follow signs for Wolverhampton A454 onto the
Willenhall Road (still the A454). After 2.2 miles all traffic
swings to the left (s/p Ring Road, Town Centre A454) onto
Middle Cross, to roundabout. Take 4th exit (s/p Ring Road,
Stafford A449) onto Ring Road. Ground is on RHS after 0.6
miles.
From
South: Exit M5 at junction 2 (s/p A4123 Dudley, Wolverhampton).
At motorway roundabout take 1st exit, and then 3rd exit
at next roundabout (s/p Dudley, Wolverhampton A4123) onto
the A4123 dual carriageway. Follow signs to Wolverhampton
A4123 for 7.6 miles, when all traffic swings left (s/p Wolverhampton
Town Centre A4123), and then right (s/p Town Centre A4123)
into Dudley Road. At Snow Hill Junction turn right (s/p
Ring Road East, Motorway M6, Walsall A454) onto Ring Road.
Ground is signposted right (Molineux Centre) off Ring Road
after 1.0 miles.
FROM RAILWAY STATION (Wolverhampton): 0.5 miles. By foot:
Straight out of main entrance and over bridge. Keep left
at clock tower and under covered walkway into Lichfield
Street, passing the `Grand Theatre' on the LHS. At lights
turn right towards Prince's Square, passing between `The
Varsity' pub and the `Midland and General'. Straight on,
following signs to Stafford A449, to Ring Road. Ground is
visible across road. Cross Ring Road at lights and turn
left, where steps lead down to ground. Last Midweek Trains:
Call (0345) 484 950.
BYMETRO:
A new line has been built from Snow Hill station in Birmingham
to a new station in Bilston Street, Wolverhampton. BY BUS:
Buses run from Stand R of the bus station, by the railway
station. Nos. 503, 504 and 506 run past the ground.
PARKING:
The police advise visiting fans to leave their cars in the
Faulkland Street car park (140 spaces, 2.00 all day). For
those coming from the North via junction 13 of the M6, take
the 2nd exit at the `Five Ways' roundabout (s/p Wolverhampton
Town Centre A449) onto Lower Stafford Street, and turn left
onto the Ring Road (s/p Ring Road, Walsall A454). The car
park is signposted left. For those travelling from the South,
the car park is signposted off the Ring Road as a U-turn.
If this car park is full, try the town centre car parks.
The short stay car parks are signposted in brown (only two
hours parking allowed before 6 pm, no restrictions thereafter),
and the long stay car parks are signposted orange. A number
of small unofficial car parks open up immediately around
Molineux, but these are best avoided. The police strongly
advise away fans against parking in the car park behind
`The Wanderer' pub by the ground, where many vehicles have
been vandalised.
