CAR:
From North, South and West:
Exit M6 at junction 15. At motorway roundabout go straight
on (s/p Uttoxeter, Stoke-on-Trent A500, Stone A34). As there's
no parking at the ground, decide here whether to head for
the Great Fenton Business Park or the Bookers car park.
a) to Great Fenton Business Park: Take 2nd exit off the
A500 after 1.6 miles (the Sideway Junction, s/p Uttoxeter,
Derby A50). Where the road divides, keep right, following
signs to the A50. At roundabout turn right onto the A50
dual carriageway. Take 1st exit (the Heron Cross Junction)
after 0.7 miles, and at roundabout turn left into Burton
Road. At crossroads after 0.1 miles turn left into Grove
Road. The business park is on the RHS. It's a ten-minute
walk to the ground, and the club says there will be signposts.
b) To Bookers car park: Take 2nd exit off the A500 after
1.6 miles (the Sideway Junction, s/p Uttoxeter, Derby A50,
also Campbell Road, Michelin). Keep in left-hand lanes where
the road divides (s/p Fenton, Longton). At top of road all
traffic turns left. At roundabout after 0.2 miles turn right,
and the Booker Cash and Carry is on the RHS.
From
North-East: The best route is M1-A38-A50 as follows. Exit
M1 at junction 28 (s/p Derby A38, Matlock A615) and at roundabout
follow signs to `Derby A38' onto the A38. At the Little
Eaton Roundabout after 13.5 follow signs to `The Ring Road,
Burton A38', and at the next two roundabouts, after 2.8
miles and 0.7 miles, follow signs to `The South M1', remaining
on the A38. After 0.5 miles exit A38 (s/p Stoke on Trent,
Uttoxeter A516 (A50)) onto the A516. At double roundabout
after 4.5 miles follow signs to `Stoke on Trent A50' onto
the A50. Remain on the A50 for 22.5 miles into the outskirts
of Stoke (note the strict speed limits here) and through
road tunnel. Exit A50 after a further 2.3 miles at the Heron
Cross Junction. Go straight on at the 1st roundabout, and
turn right at the 2nd into Burton Road. Then as From North,
South and West(*).
There
are few, if any, parking spaces at the ground for visiting
fans, who are advised to head for the car parks at the Great
Fenton Business Park or at the Booker Cash and Carry. Tickets
are pre-sold, and can be bought at local newsagents. No
`on day' payment at car parks. Directions to both are given
above. The Michelin car park has closed, and street parking
around the site of the old Victoria Ground is now strictly
`residents only'.
FROM
RAILWAY STATION (Stoke-on-Trent): 2 miles. When a large
number of visiting supporters is expected, shuttle buses
run from the railway station. By taxi: 5.
By
foot: Turn right out of station to traffic lights by the
Roebuck Hotel. Here, turn sharp right into Glebe Street,
under low bridge and across the A500. At T-junction turn
left (s/p Kingsway Civic Centre) remaining on Glebe Street
(buses to the ground run from here). At end of street do
a `dogleg' left then right into Lonsdale Road. At crossroads
go straight on (s/p Recreation Centre) by Victoria pub into
Campbell Road. At end of road after 0.9 miles turn left
(s/p Uttoxeter A50, Incinerator). At next roundabout, follow
signs to incinerator, and then take footpath between the
high wire fences running towards the canal, which leads
to the ground. It sounds compicated, but it's quite easy.
