BY CAR: From South (A12): The A12 leads to a major roundabout (by Tescos and Toys R Us) on Ipswich outskirts. Take 2nd exit (s/p Ipswich A1214, Hadleigh A1071, Football Ground) into London Road, passing Burger King on the LHS. Follow `Ipswich A1214' signs for 2.4 miles, over roundabout and lights, to a major junction/lights at the bottom of hill. Go straight on (s/p Town Centre, Football Ground) and then, after a few yards at next lights, turn right (s/p Cliff Quay, Football Ground) into West End Road. The Princes Street car park is on the RHS after 0.5 miles. From here it's a five minute walk to the ground.

From North and West (A14): Two possibilities: a) Continue on A14 to junction with A12, and pick up route From South. b) Exit A14 at s/p `Ipswich West and North A1156'. Follow `Ipswich West and North' signs over two roundabouts into Bury Road, which becomes Norwich Road. After 1.7 miles, at double roundabout by Inkerman pub, turn right (s/p Colchester A12) into Chevallier Street. Straight on at crossroads after 0.3 miles (crossing Bramford Road). After 0.4 miles straight on at lights (s/p Cliff Quay, Football) into West End Road. The Princes Street car park is on the RHS after 0.5 miles.

Street parking is a real problem round Portman Road, so for peace of mind the best idea is to head for one of the many pay-and-display car parks. The Princes Street car park, mentioned above, is signposted off West End Road, and charges �2.00 for three hours, �3.00 all day and 80p all day Sunday. Ranelagh School in Paul's Road runs a matchday car park (�1), and there's pay-and-display parking at the railway station. There's also a huge car park in Portman Road itself (access via Handford Road). Visiting fans using this car park are advised not to leave anything in the car, including stickers from the local garage, which identify their home town.

FROM RAILWAY STATION (Ipswich): A five minute walk. Head straight out of station and pass to the left of the Station Hotel. Over bridge and two sets of lights into Princes Street. First left into Portman Road. Last Midweek Trains: Call (0345) 484 950.
