Sir
Les Ferdinand has taken up a new job...as patron of QPR's
Football in the Community scheme.
Sir
Les signed for QPR from Hayes in 1987 and went on to score
almost 100 goals for Rangers.
The
Football in the Community official magazine quotes Sir Les
as saying
"As
someone who grew up in Ladbroke Grove, I know how important
it is for young people to have local organised football opportunities.
"QPR's
Football in the Community scheme continues to do a sterling
job in teaching the joy that can be gained from playing football
and giving local children access to our wonderful football
club either as fans of the future or potential players.
"I
feel that my position as Patron of the Football in the Community
scheme will allow me to give something back to grassroot development
which is where the future of the game lies."
QPR's
Football & Community Officer, Andy Evans, said
"I
am totally thrilled and honoured to have Les as our patron.
He is from the area where we work, and you could not ask for
a better role model for those children to look up to."
