Just
when you hoped the La Manga incident had died down for now,
the Sun reports today that the girl who has accused Dickov
of rape has tried to kill herself.
Here's
the story in full...
THE
woman accusing soccer star Paul Dickov of rape has survived
a suicide attempt, it was reported last night.
Ruth
Lourenco, 36, was rushed to hospital after taking a massive
cocktail of drugs.
Doctors
said she took 22 diazepam sedatives, three glass phials of
denubil, 1,000mg of the cold cure cortafriol, and noctamid
sleeping drops.
Ruth
was found collapsed after the overdose in her room at the
Montynar Hotel in Nazaron, Spain. She slipped into a coma
and was unconscious for eight hours, it is claimed. Doctors
treating her in Cartagena feared she would die or at least
suffer brain damage.
But
after eight hours of treatment she regained consciousness.
And at 9.26pm last Wednesday, 15 hours after she was admitted,
Malawi-born Ruth was discharged.
She
is believed to have suffered no long-term ill-effects.
One
medic is reported to have said: Half the number of diazepam
tablets this lady took would have been enough to kill her
without all the other things she took.
Ruth,
who lives in Germany, claims she was raped by Leicester City
striker Paul Dickov while team mate Keith Gillespie pinned
her against a wall.
Another
player, Frank Sinclair, is alleged to have attacked Ruths
two pals at a hotel in Le Manga last month.
The
men deny all allegations and are on bail.
Ruth
and her friends, Kenyans Beatrice Wanjiro, 31, and Martha
Wilbert, 37, are believed to be constantly on the move between
hotels.
