Remember
the letters we got last week (yes, it was only a week ago)
telling us we had to opt out of marketing?
Most
fans reacted quite angrily to it, although it faded into insignificance
compared with what we felt this week!
Looks
like there could be more trouble on the way for LCFC though,
which is just what they don't need.
FFS
has learnt, from a source who wishes to remain anonymous,
(Yes , ok, we know you've been reading too many tabloids
this week - The Ed) that the Information Commisioner has
sent a response which can be summarised as follows:
"LCFC cannot infer consent by you failing to return the
opt-out slip and would need to find another condition for
processing your personal data for marketing purposes. If you
had expressly refused consent then it is difficult to see
how LCFC could pass on your data for this purpose without
contravening the Data Protection Act 1998."
The Compliance Officer has said that he will be contacting
LCFC about this.
Maybe
he should leave it a few days!
Tell us what you think about this in our FFS Fans
Forum.
