We
knew Micky wanted to try and sign another player on Friday.
There were rumours about more wee Scots, Finnish trialists
and Danny Tiatto.
But
no-one prepared us for the text message alert that announced
we'd signed one of the players City fans love to hate!
Micky
has gone and signed former Germany international midfielder
Steffen Freund on loan from German Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern
until the end of the season.
Yes,
the man who cheated and dived and whined his way to victory
against us in the Worthington Cup in 1999. Bitter, us? Just
a bit.
Micky
understated things somewhat when he said,
"He
is possibly not everyone's favourite but I am not
interested in being everyone's favourite - just staying in
the Premiership.
"Steffen
fits in perfectly with us here and what we are trying to do.
People will probably draw comparisons with Savo (Robbie Savage)
and fans love him or hate him.
"If
he plays against your team, you hate him but if he plays with
your side, he's a favourite. But, like I said, I'm not interested
in winning popularity."
Freund
fell out with Kaiserslautern saying there was no team spirit.
Well, he'll certainly get that. Hopefully by now Tim Flowers
will have cut his trousers up and tested that famous German
sense of humour!
We
got over Speedie signing for us...let's get behind Steffen
if he's in that blue shirt.
Tell us what you think about this in our FFS Fans
