SkySports
are reporting that Leicester have made enquiries about Scottish
U-21 midfielder Peter Canero.
The player's agent, Raymond Sparkes, has told skysports.com
that Leicester have asked Kilmarnock about him.
Killie
have offered Canero a three-year contract, which would keep
him at Rugby Park until 2007.
"The
lure of playing in The Premiership is inevitable, but nothing
is decided and Peter's future is in the hands of Kilmarnock
as they hold his registration," Sparkes said.
"I
expect Peter's future to be resolved by the end of January."
The
Old Firm of Celtic and Rangers are understood to be keeping
tabs on his situation, while a host of Premiership and Division
One clubs are also monitoring his progress.
"Pedro, as he's nicknamed, came through the youth system
at Killie after being born in Glasgow and can play in midfield
or defence. The Killie official site says:
"One
of the most exciting prospects to have come through the Killie
Youth ranks in recent years, Peter's strong running and never-say-die
attitude has endeared him to the Killie supporter. A versatile
player, he seems equally at home in a number of positions
on the right side of the team. Has won a number of Scottish
U21 caps over the past couple of seasons."
