Micky Adams couldn't believe it when he read the Daily Mirror today...it said he was trying to sign Man Utd's Nicky Butt in the January transfer window.

Micky said: ''I nearly choked on my cornflakes this morning when someone told me that we were supposed to be in for Nicky Butt.

''Do you think that Nicky Butt will leave a side in the latter stages of the Champions League for a relegation battle? Do me a favour.

''The truth of the matter is that there is no money to spend on players for the rest of this season and when you see stories like that you know that the silly season is upon us.

''The only possibility next month is that we may be able to bring in a player on loan if we could save on some wages somewhere down the line - but that is the only kind of signing we would be in a position to make.
