A
young City team (apart from Taggs) & captained by Junior Lewis
beat Midland Alliance side Quorn, but had to come from a goal
behind to overcome a spirited Quorn team.
Chances
were few & far between early on with Sam Elkington in the
Quorn goal pulling of a fine double save to deny Wright &
Larvin.
Quorn
went ahead in the 28th minute when a cross from the right
was turned into his own net by Tozer. City though equalised
within two minutes. Wright climbing above Elkington to head
a home left wing corner.
The
best goal of the night saw City go on front when Larvin's
flick on saw Tommy Wright race clear a lob the advancing Elkington
from the edge of the area to give City a 2-1 half time lead.
City
extended their lead 5 minutes into the second half when the
impressive Larvin turned in the area & fired into the top
corner.
Tommy
Wright almost completed his hat-trick, but his low shot was
smothered by Quorn's substitute goalie, Matt Nurse.
Another
flowing City move saw sub O'Grady burst into the area but
shot was well saved by Nurse. Quorn kept going though & it
took a couple of timely tackles from Ashton to preserve City's
two goal lead.
Final
Score Quorn 1 City 3
