..Hero card collection (28/07/03)

Throughout next month Leicester Mercury readers will have the chance to collect 40 City Heroes football cards featuring some of the biggest names to wear the club shirt during the last four decades.

The Mercury says that the series will include goalkeeping legends Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton; long-serving all-rounder Graham Cross; 'Bloomfield Boys' Keith Weller, Alan Birchenall and Frank Worthington; and 1980s favourites Mark Wallington, Gary Lineker and Steve Lynex.

From more recent seasons there are Wembley winners Steve Walsh, Steve Claridge, Neil Lennon and Robbie Savage; and then there are the current players including skipper Matt Elliott, Muzzy Izzet and player of the year Paul Dickov.

Throw in managers Martin O'Neill and Micky Adams, and that is a collection of names to warm the heart of any City fanatic. And you could have all 40 staring down at you if you keep and display them than on our City Heroes wallchart.

To get your hands on a full colour wallchart you just need to collect FOUR of the eight tokens printed in the Leicester Mercury all next week and in the Sporting Blue and Sports Mercury on Saturday, August 2. Collect the tokens - which start in the Sport on Monday pull-out next week - and make sure you get your wallchart, then you will be ready to start placing your City Heroes cards in the right slots from Monday, August 4.

As well as the chance to show your support with 40 famous City faces on your wall, the first FIVE collectors to get their wallcharts completed with all 40 cards will get their City Heroes wallchart framed by us and signed by a current City player. It all starts with the first wallchart token on Monday.
