City are taking their new commitment of working with the community
a step further by making sure they continue their new policy
of employing ex-offenders.
FFS
can reveal to City fans that new signing Les Ferdinand was
involved in that most heinous crime of all that rocked the
nation...yes, it was he who was involved with the trashing
of the Blue Peter garden in 1983!
The
vandalism included trampled vegetation, a broken 100-year-old
urn donated by a pensioner, a damaged plaque made by a handicapped
child, and goldfish poisoned with oil. Percy Thrower, gawd
rest his soul, the Blue Peter gardner, was never quite the
same after declaring that the perpetrators "must be mentally
ill, Janet".
Les Ferdinand admitted a couple of years back that he was
in a gang with tw@tface Dennis Wise, (City's first unsuccesful
ex-offender placement) when they were growing up in the area,
saying;
"We
used to get into a bit of bother around here."
When
asked about the rumours that he and tw@t face were involved
in the Garden incident, Ferdinand said
"We
were just kids. I didn't do anything other than help a few
people over a wall. It was just a bit of fun."
Wise's
spokesman said: "Dennis was certainly not involved and had
nothing whatsoever to do with it."
The
BBC chose not to investigate.
