Here's
a job description with a difference...
Leicester
City Football Club is seeking a "talented musician to
provide an historic soundtrack at every home Premiership game".
The club has annouced on its website that it is looking for
"a horn player who can perform a live rendition of the
Foxes traditional entrance tune The Post Horn Gallop."
The
successful applicant would apparently be required to play
the piece of music 15 minutes before kick off and again as
the team runs out onto the pitch at the Walkers Stadium this
coming season, and the horn player would be decked out in
a blue tunic and hunting outfit.
City's
Chief Operating Officer Paul Mace said:
"We
experimented with a horn player last season but we want to
take this a stage further for the coming season.
"This
will be an important position. We want the horn player to
become an integral part of the club much the same as mascot
Filbert Fox.
"This
appointment is part of a significant overhaul of pre-match
entertainment and having a dedicated person to perform a live
rendition of the Post Horn Gallop is an important part of
our plans."
The Post Horn Gallop was used to herald the arrival of mail
coaches in the 19th century to warn passers-by of the approaching
vehicle. The tune dates back at Filbert Street to at least
the 1930s when a lone man stood at the tunnel dressed in a
blue and white flock coat with a top hat to match.
If
you are interested in playing the Post Horn Gallop please
write to Post Horn Gallop Contender, LCFC, Walkers Stadium,
Filbert Way, Leicester. LE2 7FL.
