The
Daily Mirror today has a story about Frank Worthington being
given a six-month driving ban after causing a motorway
pile-up.
The
former England striker, 54, alledgedly "tailgated motorists,
flashing his lights and sounding his horn to make them move
over."
Apparently
a Peugeot 306 failed to make way, and Frank went by on the
inside lane. The Peugeot swerved and hit the central reservation
on the M62 near Manchester before bouncing back into the path
of two other cars, causing a multiple crash.
Passenger
Jane Rantzen told Bury magistrates:
"He
turned and shook his fist. I was absolutely terrified. Afterwards
he just sped off."
Witness
Karen Swinburne, 24, said:
"I
thought that I was going to die."
Worthington,
of Huddersfield, West Yorks, was convicted of driving without
due care after denying the charge. He was fined £500 with
£250 costs.
The
Wortho Cup has now been renamed the Carling Cup after Frankie's
conviction...
