Some
of you in Leicester may have been wondering what was going
on on Victoria Park this weekend, as you would have seen footballs
flying around and lots of Asians enjoying a football tournament.
It
was a Sikh Khalsa Football Federation tournamnet, one of five
that they organise nationwide.
It's
funded by the temple, with no other financial support from
anywhere and cost over £5,000 to stage this year, with a heck
of a lot of organisation having gone into it.
There
were 64 adult teams over the 2 days and on the Sunday there
were also U-9s, U-11s, U-13s and U-15s. 5 Leicester teams
were representing the City.
Leicester
have 7 teams in the Khalsa Football Federation...Guru Nanak
Gurdwara & FC Khalsa in the KFF 1st division, Leicester Asian
X1 & Evington Old Boys in the 2nd division and Guru Nanak
Gurdwara RES, Sikh Centre & FC Khalsa RES in the 3rd div.
