The
rumour that City were watching Motherwell youngster Stephen
Pearson seems to be correct, despite Motherwell getting stroppy
about it yesterday. The 20-year-old is the subject of a £250,000
offer from City apparently.
The
Scotland U-21 player told the Evening Times:
"It's
great to be linked with a Premiership club and I'm discussing
the matter with my agent.
"Every
player wants to better himself and you know that in the Premiership
the quality is higher and you'll be learning every day.
"I'm
just happy to be playing first-team football and I'll play
in any position." (We're a bit short on goalies so bring your
gloves- Ed)
Motherwell
boss Terry Butcher denied the reports and said: “There has
been speculation that Leicester City have tabled a bid for
Pearson. It is not true and if clubs think that they can get
players on the cheap from Motherwell, they are very misguided.
“Stephen
is an extremely talented player and we look forward to him
being at the fore front of our challenge next season.”
Pearson
has also been catching the eye of Birmingham and Celtic in
the last year.
