Some
City players will be getting bad news on Wednesday....as gaffer
Micky Adams will be announcing which players' contracts he
hopes to renew and which players he will let go.
City
have a massive 11 players whose contracts end over the summer
- Tim Flowers, Gerry Taggart, Matthew Heath, Martin Reeves,
Darren Eadie, Stefan Oakes, Brian Deane, Paul Dickov, Jon
Stevenson, Billy McKinlay, Nicky Summerbee and Michael Price.
Adams
will be having one to one meetings with them and then announcing
his retained list for next season.
Speaking
on the official site he said:
“I
will sit down with each of the players individually on Wednesday
and my retained list will be published later on that day.
“We
have had no talks with any of the players at the moment apart
from Paul Dickov regarding his contract.
“I
will tell the players whether I am retaining their services
or letting them go.
“Whatever
season you have had, whether it be successful or unsuccessful,
there are always casualties, and that is the sad part of it.
“We
have taken a massive step up from the First Division into
the Premiership and there maybe people that are going to be
disappointed.
“It
is probably one of the hardest jobs that you have but at least
I am not one of those managers who publish their lists first.
“What
I do is look them in the eye and tell them. That's the way
that I see the job."
When
asked about if he was going to be signing anyone soon, Adams
added:
"You wouldn’t believe that since last Saturday agents are
now popping in to see me on a daily basis.
“I
have got so many videos to look at and I have been invited
all around the world to look at various players.
“So
it is now going to be a very busy time for myself. But rest
assured, I will be doing my utmost to make this football club
stronger.
“We
have got a few ideas, a few irons in the fire if you like.
“But
nothing will become clear until we actually sit down with
the Board of Directors and we know what finance is available
to strengthen the squad.
Who should we keep and who should we release? Tell us what
you think about this in our FFS Fans
Forum.
