Speaking
in today's Daily Mirror, Micky Adams has assured City fans
that he has no intention of leaving the club yet.
Adams
declared in the Mirror:
"I
will still be here next season.
"People
forget that I've invested my own blood, sweat and tears into
Leicester City over the past 12 months and that's a big reason
for me to carry on with the job.
"As
regards talks with the board about what we can do in terms
of transfers and wages during the summer, I have made no demands
and issued no threats.
"I
will sit down with the relevant club officials to thrash things
out, well aware that there will be no fortunes on offer either
in terms of my own contract or what we can spend on new players.
"But
we do need to demonstrate some ambition, so that our supporters
will think we can take a decent crack at staying in the Premier
League this time."
The
Mirror reports that Adams has 14 months at £4,000 a week left
on his present deal. The journo goes on to say that he understands
that Leicester are ready to at least double that figure to
persuade Adams to sign a new three-year package, which will
include a £250,000 survival bonus for beating the drop in
future.
Acting
chairman Jon Holmes is also reportedly prepared to allow Adams
around £5million for signings. Adams has to deal with several
players out of contract this summer, including Paul Dickov,
Brian Deane, Gerry Taggart, Tim Flowers, Darren Eadie, Nicky
Summerbee, Billy McKinlay, Matt Heath and Jon Stevenson.
"Any
fresh deals are bound to reflect the restricted flow of money,"
said Adams. ie wage cuts all round if they want to stay at
