60
hours to raise £60,000 or we lose a football club. Please
read this plea from the York City Supporters Trust and why
we should help...
Dear
all,
I
know I've all bored you rigid with the topic of York City's
plight in the last few months. Well now it's crunch time.
We are on the verge of the Supporters Trust saving the club
in a takeover bid and hopefully some brighter times ahead.
However, the next few days are crucial. The administrator,
in his wisdom, has just announced that we are essentially
£60,000 short of a workable deal. And guess what? We need
that money by the end of the weekend. If we don't raise this,
we are dead. Simple as that. There are no saviours, no one
is offering to help, it's just down to us, the fans.
I
wouldn't normally do this, but the situation is so grave,
I hope you don't me asking. Below is the link to the Supporters
Trust donations page. If you can in any way help by pledging
- whether it be one pound or a tenner or whatever - I will
love you all forever. If you're sick of me going on or couldn't
give a stuff, feel free to ignore this email, but if you feel
you can help, it will not go unnoticed. You will literally
be helping save our club from going out of existence and facilitating
a fans' takeover.
Please
remember the donations need to be made essentially within
the next two days. There's an option to make a one off payment
with a credit card at the bottom. Be assured that all payments
are secure. Finally, if you think there's anyone you know
who has a bottomless wallet and/or a heart of gold and is
susceptible to emotional blackmail - particularly footie fans
- please forward them this message. Many many thanks"
Fans
all over the country are rallying round. Football message
boards and mailing lists have been blitzed with the call for
help and other teams, such as AFC Wimbledon, are organising
bucket collections at their games this weekend.
Dave
Boyle, Development Officer of Supporters Direct, the Government
backed body that helps supporters set up trusts and take back
their clubs said,
"Lets
see if we, as supporters, can rally round to protect one of
our own, and have a club 'saved' not by sharks, vultures or
property speculators but by people who want no reward aside
from seeing the team still playing."
York
could play their last game against Bury on Saturday, a team
that nearly went under last season. Gordon Sorfleet, Press
Officer & Programme Editor of Bury Football Club, said,
"Perhaps
it is ironic that we are at York tomorrow. I have been running
this on the official Bury website for the last two days and
I know for a fact that Bury fans will be donating what they
can tomorrow.
"
It’s just short of 12 months since we were in the same boat
as York. Bury fans will not sit back and let a club such as
York City simply die, we will do our bit."
Please
please please help save a football club like people helped
us save ours. People from all over the country donated to
the Foxes Trust and Gary Lineker. It's our turn to help someone
else now...make your donations, this weekend, at http://www.ycst.org.uk/donations.htm
Tell us what you think about this in our FFS Fans
Forum.
