The ressies managed to come back from 3-0 down on Tuesday
night versus Hucknall Town.
There
was no FA Barclaycard Premier Reserve League South fixture
so the match was arranged to give some of the kids a run out.
The
weather was ridiculous though with a gale force wind just
blowing the ball back into one half. It enabled Hucknall to
go 3-0 up and then City to use the wind in the second have
to pull the goals back.
First
goal came from pintsized striker Jon Stevenson. The 2nd was
by Academy defender and U-19's captain Lewis Tozer, who we
signed from Chelsea. City's third goal was scored by another
U-19 defender, Northern Ireland U-16s international Gareth
Campbell (nickname Soups).
Speaking
to the official site, Shirtliff said:
"The conditions were unbelievable. We were three down at half-time
and we simply couldn't get the ball out of our own half because
we had a gale force wind blowing in our faces.
"The
pitch was also very heavy and we found it difficult to come
to terms with the conditions.
"The
game served as a good fitness exercise and we must now look
ahead to our reserve fixture away to West Ham next Tuesday
night."
