Despite a pretty woeful performance, City got the three points
and Adams seemed satisfied with that considering the circumstances
thia last week or so.
Adams
said:
"My
players deserve credit for that result. The injury list is
unbelievable. Six of those who started were carrying injuries
and should not have played.
"Then
there was the Football League Disciplinary Commission on Friday
which our captain had to attend so I lost him for a vital
day's training.
"That was a joke, it was just impossible to prepare properly
for the game. Don't these people realise there is more to
life than Dennis Wise?"
Speaking
to the official site, Micky added,
"It
was a terrific start to the game - It was more than
I could have ever hoped for really. We came out for a fast
start and got that.
"For these players to go out there with the injury list
we've got - carrying six players I wouldn't have played in
an ideal world - was fantastic. They ground out something
special here today.
"We didn't have a goalkeepr on the bench. We had a call from
a club and they wanted to loan Simon Royce and we were
without our reserve team keeper today.
"We started without a keeper on the bench. I thought
it was a sensible decision. I'm not too worried - there are
still a lot of games to go if it had all gone wrong.
"Every time the players go out and cross the line in a City
shirt they must focus on the game.
"To
get nine points out of 12 is a magnificent achievement."
Reading's
boss, Alan Pardew, was not too impressed with his side's start
to the game saying,
"We
knew we had to be sharp for the start and then we gave away
two sloppy goals early on.
"I'm
not bothered if we played well for the rest of the game, we've
now lost three out of the four and that is not good enough
for me or the chairman."
