2 goals by a well-on-form Leon McSweeney and an absolute storming
volley from Lee Marshall from outside the area gave City a
3-1 win in the pre-season friendly against Rothwell Town.
Whilst
most of City's big names were out in Finland, there were a
few exceptions who had to come along and show their faces
at Rothwell instead.
First
teamers Simon Royce, Lee Marshall, Muzzy Izzet and Jacob Laursen
all played the first half at Rothwell. Laursen's name was
met with a chorus of boos from City fans after he said City
were the worst club he'd ever had to play for.
The
defence was wobbly to say the least, but some of the youngsters
shone, as did Lee Marshall.
Tommy
Wright was taken off not long after he came on after a pretty
awful two footed lunge at the Rothwell goalie and got himself
a ticking off from Peter Shirtliff after the game.
