FFS's Young Player of the Year, Matt Piper, has finally signed
a new three year deal after weeks of negotiations.
The deal commits the 20 year-old, who made 18 appearances
last season, to the club until June 2005.
Piper,
fresh from a two-month loan spell at Mansfield, returned to
Filbert Street as cover for the club's injury crisis. The
winger made massive strides in his own development putting
in some fine performances, one of the few bright spots in
a dismal season.
Fittingly,
Piper grabbed the last goal of the season, and the last ever
league goal scored at Filbert Street.
Piper
told ananova.com, "It didn't take me long to sign the deal,
probably just a couple of seconds.
"It
was an easy decision to make", he said.
Piper's
commitment is yet another boost for the promising talent developing
at the club, Leicester City having recently unveiled the new
Academy Dome with the intention of nurturing more local talent
into first-team regulars.
Micky
Adams put a price tag of £10m on Matt's head a few weeks
ago.
