It's official.
After
evading appearing in Towcester court 8 times on speeding charges,
Ade finally managed to turn up today. But not before giving
waiting photographers a really mature "finger".
Very good Ade, what a great role model you are to kids. Grow
up.
Akinbiyi
was spotted travelling at 103 mph last April. When pulled
over he said it was an emergency, but when asked what the
emergency was he replied: “I’ll leave it for now.”
Magistrates
had grown increasingly fed up with Akinbiyi after he failed
to turn up for a string of hearings. The bench at Towcester
had insisted the former Wolves and Bristol City star appear
as they considered a possible 54-day disqualification.
Previous
excuses included a letter not having the correct stamp on
it and being called up to train with the Nigerian national
squad.
His
solicitors then went on to argue that
"“He
is the only breadwinner in his family and a ban would severely
interfere with his career. He is currently living in Hertfordshire
and there is no viable public transport to the training ground.
The club is unwilling to pay for a chauffeur to drive him.
“He
is also heavily involved with charity work throughout the
summer and relies on his car to help him with that.”
It
gets better. Managing to blag his way out of a ban, he was
fined a measley £500. But the star "striker"
who is on £10,000 a week apparently at Palace, then
asked for a month to pay it!
Asked
at one point in the court whether or not the court case had
affected Ade's performance on the pitch, his solicitor took
a swipe at City fans by saying, no, his performances had been
affected by 20,000 fans getting on his back every week.
Watch
out for Ade coming to a charity raising function near you
this summer...
