No-one was particularly surpised by relegation today, so maybe
that's why people have been able to stomach it a little more
easily than expected. We're all looking forward to success
next season, are excited about a new era under Micky and with
the youngsters looking good and so the fans went down singing
today.
Bassett
said after the game on the official site:
"It
was a tremendous show of support which augers well for the
future of the club.
"It
shows that they are through-and-through Leicester City fans
and it is on days like this that you feel for the supporters."
Matty
Elliott speaking on Sky immediately after the final whistle
also praised the fans for their support not just for today
but for all season.
Matty
Piper again shone and grabbed the attention of all the Sky
pundits today. He would have been man of the match if they
didn't have to feel obliged to give it to the winning team.
He spoke to the official site about the disappointment of
actually being relegated but added,
"The
fans were brilliant and I think they know that if we'd played
like this all season we'd have stayed up. But if we produce
performances like that next year I'm certain to be straight
back up.
"The
future is very bright for the club and I definitely want to
be a part of it. Its always been my dream to play United and
I want to play them again. I want to be straight back with
the top teams the season after next.
"There
are a lot of youngsters who will be hungry to do well next
year to return to the Premiership. That's good for Leicester
and good for our future."
Robbie
Savage gets quote of the week though for saying at least if
we're to go down we can take Derby with us! Nice one, Sav.
