Dave
Bassett has reached his 1000th game as a football manager
in England.
The
only others to have reached this milestone in their careers
since the Second World War are, according to the League Managers'
Association records, Alec Stock, Jim Smith, Graham Taylor,
Brian Clough and Dario Gradi (who amazingly enough has managed
it with just one club, Crewe.)
Speaking
to the Independent, Bassett said,
"I
knew I was getting close.
"It
is a nice achievement as not many others have done it. Dario
is the amazing one, he has done 1,000 with one club."
Bassett,
was pleased to hear he had 80 more victories than defeats,
added:
"I
am still enjoying it. Finding out I have done a thousand doesn't
make me feel tired. I feel replenished."
It
is expected that he will be given some sort of presentation
by the League Managers' Association to mark the occasion.
