Micky Adams stepped in to answer yesterday's rumours about him leaving saying he wouldn't go behind Dave Bassett's back and he knew the situation at City when he joined.

Adams said;

"It's complete rubbish. I have not issued any ultimatums and I'm not going anywhere. There's no way I would ever go behind Harry's (Bassett's) back and the story has no foundation whatsoever.

"I want to be manager at the football club eventually, everyone is aware of that. But the situation was explained to me when I came here and that timetable has not changed.

"Harry has signed a contract until 2003 while I have a contract which runs through a year later until 2004."

Bassett also made comments about how he hoped to stay on next year.
