A discussion on Talk Sport on Wednesday morning with Alan
Brazil has started rumours and talk about City's current Board
of Directors.
Brazil
questioned whether they would still be in place next season
if City get relegated, prompting some to call for the City
board's heads.
Many
City fans think that the board should go into the red and
borrow money to buy players now to try and keep us up, or
at least to get us straight back up next season. The Board
have been clear that they are not willing to do this. (Quite
frankly, FFS doubts whether tha bank would lend us much, or
whether any bugger would want to sign for us even if we had
the money)
The
board were more than generous last season, letting Taylor
have well over £20m to spend. We'd have whinged if they
hadn't. Now we whinge that they did.
Teams
such as F$£%&*$ and Cov tried the route of borrowing,
buying and continuing to pay high wages...and if you don't
bounce straight back to the Premiership it can result in financial
ruin, especially as City have the extra burden of thr new
stadium to pay for next season.
John
Elsom has said previously that he must take the blame for
not sacking Taylor earlier, and there are fears that he may
do the "decent" thing and resign. Would that really
be in the best interest of the club long term?
FFS
doesn't think so. We need stability in the boardroom from
directors that care about the club, such as John. We don't
need to have a destabilised board so that the Kinchs and the
Pierpoints of the world see an opening to get back in.
The
current board have got us a new stadium (more than the last
lot could deliver), and have backed managers and ran the club
profitably. They treat the fans well and are City fans at
heart. We could do a whole lot worse...
Tell us what you think about this in our FFS Fans
Forum.
