Muzzy Izzet will fly to Middlesbrough this week to complete
a £6million move from Leicester City, according to Soccernet.
Boro boss Steve McClaren's offer, revealed by Soccernet last
week, has apparently been accepted by Leicester.
LCFC
have now admitted that a firm offer has been made, and that
they have requested it in writing.
Leicester
chairman John Elsom confirmed talks had been held between
the two clubs and said: 'I have been contacted by Middlesbrough
and they have made an offer to the club which we have asked
that they submit in writing,'
Izzet,
for his part, is prepared to swap one relegation battle for
another and accept Boro's £25,000-a-week offer. Soccernet
go on to say that Boro have also offered 32-year-old midfielder
Dean Windass, valued at around £500,000, as a makeweight,
but Leicester boss Dave Bassett is stalling on accepting him
as part of the deal.
But Izzet's agent Jonathan Barnett said: 'The bid from Middlesbrough
has been accepted, but Muzzy is out of the country at the
moment.'
Barnett
told Sky Sports: 'He will return later in the week, when we
will hold talks with Middlesbrough.'
City
will have to pay 20% of the fee to Chelsea as part of the
sell on clause, so frankly we will be robbed if this goes
through.
