City
have announced a schedule of events to mark the last couple
of weeks at Filbert Street.
Under
the title of "The Final Whistle", here's what there
will be:
Centrepiece
of the celebrations will be an all-star farewell game on Monday
May 13. Dave Bassett's current Premiership team will take
on an invitation ex-Leicester City XI including Premiership
stars from a host of other clubs.
As
a curtain-raiser, Foxes legends from the sixties, seventies
and eighties will don their boots for one final time in a
special veterans game.
City's
final Premiership game at Filbert Street will be against Tottenham
48 hours earlier on Saturday May 11 (ko 3pm). A presentation
of Foxes legends spanning the past six decades will be unveiled
to supporters during the day. And in the evening a special
gala night featuring many of those players will be held at
the club.
Supporters
will also get the chance to tread the turf for the final time
in a special gala fans night on Friday May 17 when Leicestershire
rockers Showaddywaddy will play live on the pitch.
An
auction of Filbert Street memorabilia will also be held in
July when fans can bid for artefacts such as seats, pieces
of the Filbert Street pitch and other items including “The
Final Whistle”.
Should
City just let us all on the pitch after the Spurs game and
have a bit of it rather than try and do all this stuff? Or
will it be good fun? Afterall Showaddywaddy are great after
20 pints! (Even
I'd seem good after 20 pints - Ed)
Tell us what you think about this in our FFS Fans
Forum.
