In the absence of any transfer activity due to

a) lack of funds to buy wth and

b) lack of quality players to sell

the tabloids at the weekend were coming up with old re-hashed stories and rumours.

They have linked us with Villa's out of favour Dion Dublin, but of course we have no money to buy him. So they have continued to say that Palace are after Ade Akinbiyi and we need the money from his sale first. Apparently they may be put off by a £3m transfer tag, but other reports have stated that Bassett would let him go for £2.5m.

There are also stories linking us with former Fox Simon Grayson who is on a free from Blackburn.

The Sunday Sport says that Wolves want Matt Elliott if they get promoted.
