After weeks of completely crap performances, City fans realised
what the real problem is with Dennis Wise yesterday as Bassett
announced the midfielder had been injured since before Christmas.
So
maybe our fury should be vented at Bassett for perservering
with an obviously unfit player, probably doing him more harm
than good and beinga liability for the team? It was Bassett's
call though, and maybe he got it wrong. We all make mistakes.
Wise
meanwhile, who has a serious thing injury, will most likely
miss Saturday's game against Newcastle, and there has even
been talk of him facing a long lay off or operation.
With
Matt Jones and Stef Oakes available for selection, Bassett
must decide if he will replace Wise with either of them. City
fans have been frustrated with Bassett for not giving Jonesy
a chance.
Bassett
labelled Jones unfit before Christmas, and overweight.
Will
he give Matt a chance to prove himself at last? Here's what
he said yesterday...
"Matt
has been working very hard in training.
"I
think he has taken what I said on board.
"We
are still waiting to hear about the result of the scan on
Dennis' thigh. He's had the problem for a while and we are
keen to sort it out and we hope to hear something from the
specialist tomorrow.
"If Dennis doesn't make it, that will leave me with a decision
to make and Matt might come into the reckoning."
