We
dread to think what Mickey Adams came out with after the game,
but as a Yorkshireman it probbaly wasn't printable here.
Harry
Bassett also gave the lads a bit of a roasting in his post
match comments.
"That
was totally different from the performance we produced last
week.
"We
are the snakes and ladders team of the Premier League, we
go up the ladder and then find a big snake to slide all the
way down again.
"That
result has brought us back sown to earth with a big bump.
"It
showed me a different flavour, so from that point of view
I've have learnt a lot about the team from this afternoon's
match.
"They
threw in the towel at 2-0 down and didn't show the desire
to come back from two goals down to win the match - that's
disappointing.
"None
of my players played well and Southampton were hungry.
"That
is the most disappointing match since I took over, even more
so than the 4-1 home defeat against Liverpool."
So
what have others got to say on the woeful City display?
"The
revival under Dave Bassett suffered a big setback at Filbert
Street this afternoon as City were thumped 4-0 by fellow strugglers
Southampton. Ade Akinbiyi was at his wasteful worst."
The Fox fanzine.
"Leicester
City's revival under Dave Bassett came to an abrupt end as
the Foxes were out-played by a Southampton side which had
never claimed a Premiership win at Filbert Street."
