City
today conirmed the signing of Alan Rogers, the F£$%^&
defender, for an undisclosed fee (thought to be £400,000).
Rogers
has to undergo a medical yet, but will be officially unveiled
Friday. He has signed a two-and-a-half year contract, which
expires in June 2004.
Bassett
told the official site:
"Alan
is a very talented lad who I am delighted to bring here to
Leicester.
"I've
always admired him as a player and he will give us a lot of
options. I brought him to Forest as a left-back but when Ron
Atkinson came in he played him in midfield and he excelled
there as well.
"Alan's
a proven goalscorer, he's got good pace and a good left foot
which in this day and age is not easy to find. I think he'll
bring good competition to the team because we're not over-blessed
with players."
In
the meantime Harry is also close to signing Brian Deane from
Middlesbrough. Despite the City saying it's all up in the
air, the Boro site is a bit more optimistic...
"We’re
very close to doing a deal there," Boro boss Steve McClaren
told the website this afternoon.
"We’re
just waiting for things to develop between the player and
his personal terms."
On
top of that it appears that Damien Delaney has gone to Stockport
on loan to get some match practice in, Kevin Ellison has also
gone there on trial, and Arnie Gunnlaugsson has been put on
the transfer list.
Not
before time some might say...
