Much to the relief of many City fans, Villa boss John Gregory has gone on the record this evening to say they will not trying to sign Muzzy Izzet.

Gregory confirmed that initial enquiries were made about Izzet, but now any deal is off, with reports suggesting that chairman Doug Ellis has told his manager that there are no more funds available for transfers.

When asked about Izzet, Gregory said: "As far as I am concerned there is no future in that transfer, we have called a halt to that."

Damn shame that.
