Leicester
striker (no he is, honest), Ade Akinbiyi has had a bit of
a pop at people who have been slating him.
Ade
has said that critics have blamed him for Taylor's dismissal,
but he hit back, telling the Daily Express:
"I'm
not the one to blame. It's not fair that I should get the
blame for everything that has gone wrong at Leicester.
"Every
time I look there seems to be a story saying Peter Taylor's
bad signings got him the sack or that Ade Akinbiyi is a flop,
and that is hard to take.
"Things
got so bad that Peter dropped me for three or four games to
take the pressure off himself and that just made me feel worse."
Ade admitted that he has thought about quitting Filbert Street,
adding:
"I
have thought about leaving twice already. I told friends I
wanted to go on the transfer list. Things were so bad I just
wanted to get away.
"I
have calmed down since. Maybe I can get a fresh start under
a new manager."
FFS
has tried hard to be supportive of Ade and when he plays well
we say so. The game against Chelsea last season was a blinder.
But
let's be brutally honest, he often looks like he's got lead
in his boots and can't hit that trusty barn door at 10 paces.
Having
said that, some of us rate him for his running around and
creating problems for the defence of teams, and he seems like
a really nice bloke who's trying hard. and frankly he's not
been given much help and encouragement lately. Taylor suddenly
dropping him when he was sh*tting it was pretty unfair on
Ade and did us no good whatsoever.
Come on Ade, show the new gaffer why you should start up front,
just give 120% every game, go for every ball, run like a madman
everywhere, shoot at every opportunity and prove the whingers
wrong.
