:City
boss Peter Taylor realised that he was now right back in the
thick of things after today's crushing defeat and said, "I'm
very disappointed with our second half performance.
"We
started quite well but in the second half we didn't have any
leaders and made some very poor decisions. Some of our defending
was very poor and we didn't deserve to keep a clean sheet.
"I'd
have been delighted to get away with it, but we didn't deserve
to get away with it. Everyone gave the ball away in the second
half and that was why we were defending so deep.
"There
are a lot of things to talk about, a lot of things were wrong.
At half time all I said was 'go for the second goal'. I didn't
want to sit back but we didn't deserve another one.
"I
think before the game they were fine, after Saturday's win
they were confident enough they would do well, but the way
they played in the second half amazed me.
'Boro
boss Steve Mclaren, also underfire from his fans, told reporters
how sweet the victory was. A comment that is sure to incense
some City fans. "I thought time was running out, but
two late goals like that make the win sweeter.
"The
first half performance was very disappointing, but we changed
a few things at half time and dominated from then on. The
switch gave us a bit more energy, it changed the tempo of
the game.
"Their
effort and attitude was magnificent. I knew there was enough
character and attitude in the dressing room.
"The
players have got their just rewards for what have been good
performances. The attitude and acceptance of the changes from
the players has made it easier for me."
City
defender Callum Davidson admitted that something went wrong.
But said he wasn't sure exactly hat it was, "We were
very confident going into the game after our result at Derby
and I can't really understand what went wrong.
"We
played some superb stuff in the first half but the way we
let them get at us in the second wasn't good enough. Our quality
of passing stopped, our movement stopped... it was very disappointing.
"To
their credit they kept pressing but we conceded two very bad
goals. They were both down to defensive mistakes which was
surprising because we had defended well for most of the match.
"To
be leading 1-0 for the majority of the game and then to lose
2-1 is very hard to take. All the lads' heads were down in
the dressing room.
"It's
going to be difficult to pick ourselves up for the game against
Fulham but that's something we have to do. We've got to put
things right again."
