With
all the controversy surrounding the end of City's first away
win in eight months, when it appeared that Jordan Stewart
was attacked by a Derby Steward near the tunnel, it wasn't
surprising that under pressure Derby manager Jim Smith was
less than kind in his analysis of Robbie Savage.
"We've
seen players for years and years who are very clever at diving
and getting penalties but he Savage is not very clever and
his penalties become riots."
"He
plays like that all the time and it's not something new. We
all know and I would have thought the referee would have known
that when Mr Savage goes into the box he might take a little
dive and that's what he did."
Head
shearer Smith then went on to try and divert attention away
from his players disgraceful behavior at the full time whistle
by saying, "You can't condone it but it's always the
same guy. It happened last week at Ipswich and it happens
all the time."
City
boss Taylor though knew exactly who was to blame, "It
was just verbal and pushing but the security got involved
after that and they shouldn't have got involved. They're the
people who have got to keep calm.
"A
lot of people were trying to calm everybody down and every
now and then people lost control and it got a bit silly."
When
drawn on the subject of Savage's controversial penalty, Taylor
said, "Robbie had already been booked and did not want
to get involved. My players were just trying to come back
into the dressing room and they were half stopped."
The
man who started all the arguments decided that he would call
Sky Sports Goals On Sunday proggramme to plead his case. He
said, "I've never dived in my career. It was a penalty,"
said Savage on Goals on Sunday.
"My
reaction was one of `we haven't won in eight months in the
Premier League, we've got a penalty in the last minute of
an away game and we have a chance to win it'.
"It
is because it is me. I think I'm being victimised. It's getting
to the stage where I'm not bothered anymore."
Savage
also insisted that he was not involved in the after match
incident whithin the tunnel.
"I
was not even in the tunnel but the steward said it was my
fault for the incident."
"Maybe
I've not always been totally blameless in the past but yesterday
I was blameless."
