Disturbing
news reached FFS during the early hours that local paper The
Leicester Mercury's top sports reporter Bill Anderson had
some rather unkind things to say about Robbie Savage last
night.
During
last nights match against Blackpool the ground was rife with
rumour that Robbie Savage is due to quit Filbert Street in
a £5 million deal with Newcastle later this week. Later
on several City fans had their opportunity to ask the Leicester
Mercury's Chief sports writer Bill Anderson for his opinion
on the rumours. His response not only shocked them but also
us aswell when we heard it!
This
is what they sent to us:
Several
blue army fans stopped at Keele services on the way back from
City's 1-0 Worthington Cup win last night and ran into several
sports reporters feverishly uploading their stories about
the game. One City fan, who recognised Mr Anderson, decided
to ask his expert opinion on the latest batch of rumours that
Robbie Savage was due to leave for Newcastle United at the
end of the week. To their surprise Mr Anderson proceeded to
say, "good, I hope he does. There are too many Welsh
people around."
Now
FFS finds this very unacceptable indeed. To say that he hopes
Savage, a firm fans favorite, leaves was bad enough but then
telling a fan that there are to many Welsh people is near
racism!
FFS
understands that Mr Anderson probably had a long day, I mean
following City around the country for free must be a very
hard and boring job. We understand that he may have been tired,
grouchy and probably a bit mardy, but when a fan asked his
opinion, in his capacity as a sports writer who is apparently
"in the know", he could at least have given a sensible
answer. If you don't want your job Mr Anderson I know a few
people who wouldn't mind doing it with a bit more enthusiasm
than you.
Forfoxsake
will be e-mailing the Leicester Mercury very shortly in an
attempt to try and find out just what his bosses and indeed
Mr Anderson think of this whole incident.
Tell
us what you think about this in the Fans
Forum.
