In
the after match press conferences both managers concentrated
on the events that they deemed to be important in this match.
That meant that Peter Taylor talked about his detractors that
want him out of his City hot seat while Craig Burly talked
of his horror at Matteo Sereni's dismissal.
Taylor
told the large gathering of reporters, mainly expecting his
resignation, "There have been a couple of reports saying
I have lost the dressing room. That has been quite hurtful
when people don't know things.
"I
have not lost the dressing room. The players are with me and
they showed that today. If I had lost the dressing room, I
would know it and I don't think I have.
"I
hope that result helps with my future. I honestly felt that
the talk about someone getting sacked after two games is far
too soon.
"I
think the players showed they are 100 per cent committed to
getting things right and if I was one of the bosses looking
on that's the kind of thing I would be looking for.
"We
will get it right. We have got a decent squad and we are far
better than the current position suggests.
"I
want to carry on. I was not delighted with all the talk of
me losing my job if we got beat today but all I can do is
get on with things and get as many points as possible.
"We
need a win as quickly as possible. We need to get the confidence
back and then everyone can stop panicking. Players play better
when they aren't under pressure."
Meanwhile
Ipswich boss George Burley said, "There's no doubt that
Robbie Savage looked as if he had been hit by a sledgehammer
and the keeper was sent off because of it.
"The
referee didn't even see it and we will be appealing and the
referee has agreed to look at it again.
"I
also thought Marshall was unlucky to be sent off and as for
the game it was a body blow for us to throw away two points
like we did."
