Peter
Taylor has told how the club will appeal against midfielder
Dennis Wise's sending off against Arsenal.
Referee
Andy D'Urso's
sent off Wise in the second half for alleged violent conduct
- after appearing to clash heads with Patrick Vieira.
Wise
had already received one yellow card, as had Viera and both
were given their marching orders.
Taylor
told City's official site, "To me it did not look like
a head-butt. His head was there but I don't think he actually
butted Vieira. It was not a straight red card. If anything,
it was eyeball to eyeball.
"If
Dennis had gone to 'nut' him, as the referee said, then he
deserved to go. But he didn't do that and that's why we will
appeal. I feel the referee made a mistake.
"I
think both players wanted to make a point to each other, which
was silly because they should both have just got on with it.
"But
I still can't understand why there were two sendings off.
We will definitely be asking the referee to look again at
the video.
"It's
up to the referee to make his own mind up, but I did not think
it was a head-butt from Dennis. I'm disappointed with any
sending off, but I didn't think this one was deserved.
"When
you're struggling you need all your players available so injuries
and suspensions are not good for us at this particular time."
