City's
fortunes took a turn for the worse yesterday at Highbury when
the boy's in blue went down 4-0 to Arsenal making it the 13th
consecutive away defeat for Peter Taylor's struggling outfit.
After
last week's poor showing against Bolton it was hoped that
City would at least try and play out a draw. This though was
not the case.
The
game was started by Arsenal as they meant to go on with them
going close to scoring after just 2 minutes. Callum Davidson,
Dean Sturridge and Matt Elliott were all missing from the
squad due to injury which gave new boy James Scowcroft and
young Jordan Stewart the chance to play today.
Unfortunately
neither made any kind of impact on the match which found City
2-0 down by half time after strikes by Robert Pires and Sylvain
Wiltord.
City
ran out n the second half with a heavily changed side after
both Izzet and Rowett were forced off the pitch through injury.
In
a bizarre moment in the 60th minute both Dennis Wise and Patrick
Viera were sent off for what seemed like nothing more than
arguing with each other after clashing on the pitch.
With
both teams down to 10 men Arsenal soon added a third goal
after 77 minutes when substitute Thierry Henry's shot took
a deflection off of City defender Frank Sinclair.
The
final insult to injury came right at the death when even though
Flowers saved Henry's header but Kanu followed up to head
the ball past City's 'keeper.
