City's
first choice 'keeper, Tim Flowers, has spoken out on how hard
it was to swallow last weeks 5-0 scoreline and also throws
his weight behind the campaign to keep Peter Taylor at City.
Speaking
in today's Sun Flowers said, "The manager is an excellent
coach. He's proved that by working with England, there is
no higher accolade.
"We're
only one game into the season and last weekend was not down
to Peter. The players let him down and we have some work to
do.
"I'm
17 years into the game and I've had a few bad weekends, but
nothing as bad as that.
"I've
lost to higher scores but I've never felt as bad as I did
at the end of the Bolton game. It's been hard to get it from
my mind.
"We
watched the video on Monday but I felt too young for that
X-rated film! We simply did not perform.
Highbury
will be a stiff test of our resolve and we have to look for
a response to a bad loss.
We
have to live in our own little world now. We've got Arsenal
then a two week break and then Ipswich and Charlton at home.
We need points on the board.
"There
is no doubt that we can play a bit but we need to prove that
quickly. I watched Arsenal lose to Leeds during the week and
they are an excellent side but we have our own agenda.
"We
need to run tackle and compete. We have lost games before
and our fans have applauded us off because they've been convinced
we'd given everything. I can understand why they booed on
Saturday.
"Bolton
were 2-1 with the bookies yo go down. Now people don't fancy
us even though Leicester have looked steady for some years.
There's no need to press the panic button but we've got a
lot to do to convince people that we mean business."
