Here's
some snippets of some of the reports and comments about yesterdays
5-0 thrashing by Premiership new boys, Bolton...
Newly
promoted Bolton Wanderers ripped up the form book to thrash
Leicester City 5-0 and kick off the English Premiership season
with a bang on Saturday. Bolton - odds on favourites to finish
this season relegated back into the First Division - tore
one-time England manager Peter Taylor's woeful Foxes to shreds
at Filbert Street.
The result was a nightmare start to the season for Taylor,
who finished last year under pressure after a dismal form
slump. (DailySoccer.com)
But
highlight of the day came at Filbert Street where manager
Peter Taylor must be wondering what hit him after Premiership
newcomers Bolton ran home five unanswered goals against the
Foxes.(Soccer.com)
It
took Bolton Wanderers 10 minutes to get used to the fact that
they were back in the Premiership and that the side who they
had been lucky enough to get for their first game were as
poor as anything they have met in the First Division. But
once they had made that discovery they started scoring goals
with almost embarrassing ease. (The Observer)
City
got the season off to an utterly disastrous start with a 5-0
defeat at home to Premiership new-boys Bolton Wanderers. Peter
Taylor's side picked up where they left off with a defeat
that offered no consolation whatsoever…Frandsen found the
top right hand corner with a 25 yard free-kick which sparked
a rush for the exits by thousands of disgruntled home fans.
'Taylor Out!' rang out from the Kop and other areas of the
ground as both teams played out time, with the biggest cheer
of the day reserved for the introduction of old favourite
Ian Marshall. Where do we go from here?
This
display was so awful that serious concerns must be raised
as to City's Premiership future even at this stage of the
season.(The Fox)
THE
ACCUSED: Peter Taylor
SCENE OF THE CRIME: Filbert Street
THE OFFENCE: Impersonating a football manager.
Astonishingly,
it wasn't until 18 minutes into the second half that the chants
of "Taylor out!" were heard ringing around Filbert Street.
By that time, we were 4-0 down to the side who were by far
everybody's hot tip for relegation.
As
the players came out for the second half, Peter Taylor demonstrated
the kind of tactical acumen that makes me feel his time is
up at Filbert Street. He took off the two strikers Sturridge
and Akinbiyi (who hadn't exactly had a great deal of service)
as well as a defender, Callum Davidson.
The
were replaced by Arnie Gunnlaugsson, Lee Marshall and Junior
Lewis. Lewis went into defence, as did Marshall. Elliott went
up front alongside Arnie!!!! Sitting on the bench was Trevor
Benjamin, the £1 million striker from Cambridge.
Lewis
was signed for £50,000 from Gillingham, and looks to be worth
every penny. Not a penny more, however, as he's so out of
his depth in the Premiership, you'd need a submarine to find
him. Completely and utterly dreadful would be a kind way to
describe his performance. (from the terrace)
Before
this match, which was historic in that it was the opening
match of our last season at Filbert Street, we had dancing
girls, a steel band, flowers and fireworks but somehow I could
not get excited I felt an uneasiness like I have never felt
at this juncture of an opening season in all my time watching
Leicester City, which is something I have done since the 1950's.
After
the game it was all drizzle, despair and depression but sadly
it matched my pre - match uneasiness a feeling I suspect I
will wallow in until Peter Taylor is finally drummed out of
time.
Leicester
City looked flabby, overweight, unfit, dull, slow, below standard....in
fact quite awful so it was no surprise that they turned in
the worst performance I have ever seen from our boys in Royal
Blue. It was absolutely pathetic, the team should be ashamed
of themselves and the management should take full responsibility,
do the decent thing and stand aside to let people with ability
take over ....... Taylor should go and go now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and take his Division 1 Players with him (Gilbert the Filbert)
Peter
Taylor's Leicester City have been humiliated on the opening
day of the season - losing 5-0 to relegation favourites Bolton.
Is this where the Taylor bubble finally bursts? The odds on
Leicester City's Peter Taylor becoming the first managerial
casualty of the new season shortened considerably on Saturday
as the Foxes were thrashed 5-0 at home by relegation favourites
Bolton.
Is
Peter Taylor on his way out at Leicester City? Will the Foxes
turn it round if they don't panic - or have Taylor's disastrous
buys sealed their manager's own fate with only a week of the
season gone? (Football365)
Talk
of Europe and the new signings improving on a squad which
had many of last season's injured casualties returning, seemed
very far fetched by half time as City's best team were demolished
by a bunch of players who were Nationwide last season…
Plenty
of calls for Taylor to leave already, the feeling maybe he
won't have long for the axe will fall. We have been tipped
to go down with Bolton by most pundits this season, on this
performance one of will definetly be down by Christmas. Lets
just say this is gonna be a very long season. (Totally Foxed)
Flowers
was left exposed time and time again, enraging home fans who
ended the match chanting for the head of under-pressure manager
Peter Taylor. (Soccernet)
LEICESTER
were booed off as new boys Bolton got off to a fairytale start
on their Premiership return...This humbling was too much for
Leicester fans, who demanded that boss Peter Taylor be sacked
and chanted ‘Taylor out'...
It
was a nightmare for the Foxes and even former Leicester star
Alan Birchenall, now the club's public relations official,
had blasted Leicester's performance at half-time. He took
his microphone and told fans:
"I'm
not usually speechless but what a way to start a season.
"I
hope the second half is better than that because that was
absolute c**p. The players know they were c**p for 45 minutes."

Leicester
City boss Peter Taylor was stunned by the opening day 0-5
thrashing by Premiership new side Bolton - insisting "I'm
shocked." Taylor, who faced criticism for Leicester's demise
in fortunes at the tail end of last season, immediately found
himself facing more questioning after Bolton tore his side
to pieces with four goals before the interval. (Football News)
Bolton
created the first shock of this season's Premiership by crushing
Leicester City at Filbert Street. The result left Leicester
reeling, with manager Peter Taylor suffering calls for his
head on the first day of the season. ...Leicester had their
share of possession but did little with it ...The Foxes, meanwhile,
left the field with their tails between their legs to the
sound of booing from their supporters. (BBC)
