Despite being 32 years old, Matty Elliott will today sign
a contract with Leicester City extending his stay here until
2005.
Despite turning down the initial contract that was offered,
and calling it derisory and unacceptable via the press, the
City captain and Scottish international has now agreed terms
for a one-year extension to his current contract.
Seeing
as it's only a year extension it would appear the sticking
point may have been money then. Heaven only knows what he's
on now.
Speaking
on the club's official
website, City boss Peter Taylor said:
"The
events over the weekend were only a hiccup. I have always
felt that Matty would sign a new contract and I am delighted
that he has done.
"It's
excellent news for everyone connected with the club only two
days before the start of the season."
