Jamie
Scowcroft marked his debut with his first goal for the club
as he made an appearance in the second half of tonight's pre-season
friendly at the Britannia Stadium.
Rising
to meet a lovely cross, Jamie towered above the Stoke defence
to calmly nod home. Something he is particularly good at apparently.
300+
City fans made the trip up the A50 to Stoke and paid £7
to see a nice new stadium, a Hippopotamus mascot, a mediocre
Stoke side, and a new signing.
The
new boy signed autographs and posed for photos, and looked
pretty useful when he came on despite not knowing anyone's
name practically, never mind how the heck they played together!
The
game started badly with Sav being floored with the first tackle
of the game, and having to go off the pitch for some lengthy
treatment.
City
took the lead early in the first half when consistent hard
work from Ade Akinbiyi paid off. Showing just what he can
do, Ade had been running and chasing all game. Looking more
lively than normal, he bagan to get himself in front of defenders,
keep hold of the ball, not give free kicks away and power
towards goal.
One
such piece of work saw him blast home past the keeper to the
delight of the City crowd behind the goal. It was beautiful
to watch.
The
game was mainly pretty dull, but Wisey livened it up with
a few tackles that would normally see the red card! Needless
to say he and Sav were booed by the Stoke fans. And so was
Tim Flowers! How can anyone boo the nicest bloke in footy?
One
of the Stoke forwards went in to Tim's stomach studs up. Tim
sprang up to have a go before laughing and hugging the guy,
but the Stoke fans had already decided to boo him.
Most
players had a reasonable game, with Wisey yet again shining.
Oakes had a much better time when he came on than of late,
but Sav had a bad one. Kept losing the ball and giving it
away, and giving free kicks away. He was not a happy bunny
with the referee at all.
Walker
had absolutely nothing to do when he came on, and this was
no real test for LCFC.
But
the stewards were friendly and getting out of the stadium
by car was a doddle. What more can you want?
