It
looks like one of City's most talked about players is finally
going to be leaving Filbert Street if press reports from the
BBC are to be believed.
At
the age of 32 and after a season where he was left in limbo
for some time, it looks like Steve Guppy has finally decided
to call time on his Leicester career and move on to pastures
new.
Unfortunately
it will come as a sad blow to many City fans that the place
he should choose to move to is rivals Coventry.
The
move comes as no surprise to people who have been following
the is he, isn't he saga of Steve Guppy for the last season
but it is disturbing how quickly it appears that this has
all come about.
Earlier
on this afternoon it was being rumoured whether he would play
any part in City's squad that played Quorn tonight. But silently
it appears that Gordon Strachan was secretly negotiating a
£600,000 deal for the winger.
Coventry
chairman Bryan Richardson told the club's official website:
"We will have talks and are confident of completing the
move depending on a medical."
Guppy
has felt out of place in City's squad since Martin O'Neill
left last season and after a very well documented spat with
new boss Peter Taylor, where he was given 6 games to get back
into the first team, it appeared that his City career was
all but over.
Ever
the fighter though Guppy managed to force his way back into
the team but it looks like this was just not enough for the
plucky winger.
If
Guppy passes his medical then he could be in the Coventry
squad as earlier as Tuesday night when the play in Cardiff.
Is
this the right thing to do or should we tell them to piss
off? Tell us in the Fans
