It
seems there are more Leicester City fans in New Zealand than
Bernie and Rod who are on the lcfc mailing
list. We appear to have a City fan at the New Zealand
Kingz!
The
Kingz, who used to be the Auckland Kingz, are the only NZ
side playing in the Australian league, and have improved radically
in the last year or two.
Football,
(or soccer, as the stupid Antipodeans insist on calling it)
is getting bigger in New Zealand thanks to Sky, and the renaming
of the Kingz saw them starting to rotate their "home"
games to other parts of the country other than Auckland.
One
of the FFS editors, Lynn, was lucky enough to see them play
at Wellington's brand new stadium in January of this year
and has followed their progress since then.
Whilst
over there, brilliant ads were being screened to promote them.
One had the country split...animal lovers in outrage, football
fans in hysterics.
A
high rise block of flats on fire sees a little dog stuck at
a window as the Kingz drive by. The goalkeeper sprints out
as the dog jumps, and makes a great diving catch. He takes
all the applause, and then drop kicks the poor dog!
Well
it appears they got the dog from none other than Leicester
City!
Here's
what the Kingz official site has to say about the dog, Striker...
Powerful
player, Striker became the club's most expensive player
when THE club paid Leicester City £11 million for his
services in March 2000. The New Zealand international
made an instant impression on his debut, earning a penalty
in front of the Kop end after just three minutes against
Wollongong Wolves. His all action performance made him
an immediate hit with the fans and his first goal for
The Kingz arrived in his fifth game when he headed home
to complete a 3-0 win at Marconi Stallions .

Any Kiwi Foxes out there? Should City be looking to NZ for
new players? Could Wynton Rufer hack it in the Prem? Will
Kiwis ever qualify for the Worldcup instead of the crappy
Aussies? Let us know your views in the Fans
Forum.
