Chelsea
and England midfielder Dennis Wise was finally unveiled to
City fans today and the first thing he did was admitted that
his less than rosey relationship with Chelsea boss Claudio
Ranieri made up his mind to move to Filbert Street.
The
34-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with said, "In
that situation, he rang me up to tell me he was not going
to pick me, and was very straight with me and I respect him
for that. As to Mr Ranieri, I'd rather not go into that."
"It
wasn't a difficult decision in the end."
"I
had made my mind up that I was going to leave at the end of
the season. I'm glad to be here. It is good that this club
wanted to sign me.
"There
were a lot of factors in my decision to leave. I had 11 years
at Chelsea, enjoyable years, but I did not want to be a bit-part
player, sitting on the bench.
"I
felt under Claudio Ranieri I would not be playing in my best
position and did not want to spoil my relationship with Chelsea.
I have parted on very good terms."
"I
have many good memories, I won a lot of things and enjoyed
it. Now it is time to move on and I am looking forward to
some good years here.
"It'll
be good to play with Robbie Savage, because he was a pain
in the backside to play against."
Up
to Christmas Leicester were in a fine position in the league
and doing very well, but unfortunately they had a number of
injuries in key positions and things didnt go well.
I
am sure if those key players can stay fit this year then Leicester
City Football Club can get into Europe.
There
are a couple of very exciting players here and I have had
the pleasure of playing with Muzzy Izzet and Frank Sinclair
before and they are two quality players. They have moved to
Filbert Street from Chelsea and done extremely well.
Im
really looking forward to playing with Robbie Savage. He is
the type of player that you want in your side and not playing
against you.
I
have moved club before, from Wimbledon to Chelsea, so it isnt
a whole new experience for me. It happens in football and
I am going to enjoy it.
I
feel that we can get into Europe and maybe win a cup with
this team. Leicester have always been good in the cup competitions
and hopefully I can help them get a bit further."
Peter
Taylor was also more than pleased about his new £1.6
Million signing and told of his hopes that Dennis can replace
Neil Lennon.
"We
missed Neil, and we needed a replacement," said Taylor.
"Wise can take responsibility, he will get angry with
people when things aren't going right, and he can pass the
ball around.
"I'm
absolutely delighted. He's a tremendous player, and one I
have admired for many years."
