Just
incase anyone was under any misconceptions as to just how
much the game against Leeds means to City try these interesting
facts.
If
City were to win on Saturday and other results were to go
their way, the LCFC PLC could pull in around £1 million!
How
can a game be worth this much? Well for a start every Premiership
place is worth 330,000 under the current deal with Sky. That
means that finishing 10th would get City 3.3 million while
finishing 13 would knock around a million off the total to
give City a 2.3 Million windfall at the end of the season.
There
does seem to be some confusion though as to just how much
City, Liverpool, Charlton and Leeds are being paid for appearing
on SKY this weekend. The official site insist that 500,000
is the sum on offer, meaning that Sky would be shelling out
around 2 million just to pay the teams to play. Our friends
at Midas Soccer though insist that City and the other teams
involved will get just the 'standard amount', whatever that
is.
There
again the amount on offer to City is dwarfed by the amount
of money Leeds stand to miss out on if they lose and do not
qualify for a Champions League spot.
With
the Champions League guaranteeing several extra matches against
some of the biggest teams in Europe and each game being broadcast
live on television Leeds could lose much more than just a
million if City beat them!
City
boss Peter Taylor knows just how much the game is worth when
he said, "We are determined to do our best to get back
into the top half of the table and we will need to win to
do that.
"Last
night's draw against Arsenal sent Newcastle above us and we
are down to 12th so we have a lot to do. We will need a good
display in front of the TV cameras for a change."
For
a change would be right. FFS is hard pressed to find any league
game that we have done well in that has been shown on SKY,
apart from the game against Sunderland last season when Collymore
got his hat trick!
